The New Iberia Karate Institute (NIKI) is the oldest and only traditional karate club in the city and parish. It was first established in 1973. The Chief Examiner is Takayuki Mikami, 9th Dan and the Chief Instructor is Mr. Scott Decuir, 6th Dan. Mr. Decuir has been certified by the JKA as an instructor, examiner and judge. This blog is an opportunity for members and friends of the dojo to get information on Karate and events and interact with each other and Sensei.

It looks like we will continue to be affected by this storm through Wednesday evening. Also, there is a possibility of the loss of utilities at that time. So, out of an abundance of caution and understanding that there likely wouldn't be many participants anyway, classes will be cancelled both Tuesday 8-28 and Wednesday 8-29. Practice good self defense and prepare well and be alert and aware. Classes will resume on Thursday, 8-30, unless you hear otherwise.

I have been monitoring the Hurricane in the Gulf and it
looks like the brunt of whatever storm we get will be tomorrow, Tuesday,
8-28-2012. Therefore, classes are officially canceled for Tuesday,
08-28-2012. We will
have classes tonight, Monday, 8-27-2012. I will let you know if we have
classes on Wednesday as the storm information develops. Please check back at the web site frequently for updates as to class schedule.
